The Story

BWO didn't start on a mood board. It started in a workshop.

Famous Men's Wear, founded by the Pithadia family in Mumbai, has been producing custom garments for over 25 years. Patterns drafted by hand. Fabrics sourced with intent. Embroidery done by karigars who have spent decades at the craft. That's the foundation this brand is built on.

Smit Pithadia, the founder of BWO, grew up watching his father and uncle build something real: not a store, a craft. In 2020, he made a decision: take that craft online, and make it accessible to every man who deserves a garment made for him, not just those who walk into a showroom.

BWO is that decision in action.

The People

 SMIT PITHADIA

( Founder and Creative Director - BWO by Smit Pithadia )

A finance graduate from Mithibai College and a self-taught entrepreneur, Smit manages everything from design direction and client experience to digital marketing and production timelines. He has built BWO from the ground up: every collection, every collaboration, every garment quality-checked before it ships.

He has built a client base across India, the UK, the USA, Canada, the UAE, Australia, and New Zealand. And he answers his own WhatsApp.

Sanjay has been part of Famous Men's Wear since he was 16 years old. What started as a young man learning the basics of the trade became a lifelong dedication to the craft of tailoring. He oversees the entire production process at Famous Men's Wear, from pattern drafting and fabric cutting to stitching, fusing, and finishing. Everything is done in-house, under his watch. His calm, precise approach to the craft is the backbone of every BWO garment that leaves the workshop. When clients say their outfit fit perfectly the first time, that is his work showing.

With 25 years of experience managing the operations of Famous Men's Wear, Vijay handles production relationships, karigar management, and material sourcing. His understanding of the full supply chain, from raw fabric to finished garment, is what makes BWO's 10-14 day turnaround possible without sacrificing quality.

The Process

Every BWO garment begins the same way: with your measurements.

After you place your order, we send you a detailed measurement guide via WhatsApp. You share your measurements, fabric preference, colour reference, and any customisation requirements. Our karigar team in Mumbai then builds your garment from scratch: cutting, stitching, embroidering, and finishing by hand.

No two garments are identical. That's the point.

BWO runs on the backbone of Famous Men's Wear, a Mumbai tailoring studio with a legacy spanning over 50 years.

What started as a small workshop has grown into a full in-house production setup that handles every stage of garment making under one roof. Pattern drafting, fabric cutting, stitching, fusing, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, finishing — all done by the same team, in the same space, with the same standards that have been refined over five decades.

This is not a brand that outsources to unknown vendors or assembles garments from pre-cut pieces. Every BWO order is built from scratch by karigars who have spent years, in some cases their entire careers, at Famous Men's Wear. The institutional knowledge that lives in that workshop, in the hands of those craftsmen, is something no startup can replicate.
